This makes the third time old Scratch has tried to buy Amity's soul. Dude can't catch a break.

What is your soul really worth, anyway? I mean, in an economic sense... that is what economists say, right? If everything is a matter of cost versus value, where would you draw the line on your soul? Is there an amount of money that would be worth it? Would inflation or currency fluctuation deter you? What about the love of that special someone? If you got that, would it be worth knowing that you violated their free will? Fame? Professional success?

To be honest, I don't think these questions are as hypothetical as you might imagine. I worked as a software engineer since 1995 and at just about every company where I worked I was inevitably the most technically proficient programmer and yet my employers consistently refused to actually utilize my expertise. They all just wanted to waste their money pointing me at nuts and telling me to turn the wrench, when I could have designed the whole damn car. I did actually enjoy the engineering work when I got to do it, but the problem was that almost the entire time I worked in that industry I was trading my soul for a paycheck, always being just barely out of reach of work that would have actually been fulfilling.

I'm a lot happier now. I went from billing $80/hr for software engineering to currently earning about $0.50 per hour making these comics and I'm a lot happier. It's true, the funding problems are often frustrating, but I'm doing work that's genuinely challenging and that all you wonderful hooligans really enjoy! :D

Of course since you're enjoying it, you can help out with those financial frustrations and get some cool bonuses for yourself as well. For as little as $1/mo pledge on our Patreon you can have access to all the alternate endings and bonus panels. At $3/mo you'll be entered into a monthly raffle for art from me!

I had hoped to get another NSFW patron bonus made tonight so I could publish it this month, but with an hour and a half left before midnight I don't think I'm going to make it. I'm pretty exhausted at this moment. It's been a long day and we have to be up early to pick up my sister-in-law from the airport in Columbus tomorrow morning (an hour drive from Dayton - it's less expensive than the direct flight). She's flying in for a few days to see my mother-in-law, Carol, while she's going in for hyperparathyroid surgery. A ton of medical appointments and other errands as well as personal health issues have made April brutal for me. Wish me luck that May will be better. And thanks for being patient with me! :D
