An Apology

Someone recently pointed out to me that if you read my comic from the beginning, women are remarkably absent in the early strips and that when they are present they seem to be largely foils for the men or presented in very sexualized ways.

So I read through the archive from the beginning with this in mind. Unfortunately, I see now why someone might get a sexist vibe from my comics. Although I never intended this, I'll have to be more mindful of this in the future. When I say this, I don't mean that I'm going to stop making sex jokes or that there won't ever be women in my strips who are presented as stereotypes (I do this with male characters also, for the joke), but rather, that I'll work on improving the gender balance in my strip, and showing women who aren't always blonds in a red tank-top. D'oh!

If you have suggestions about my comics, particularly ways to improve them, I appreciate your help and honesty. I may not always agree with what you have to say, but I'll do my best to give every sincere suggestion genuine consideration.

In the spirit of honesty, here are the first ten comics that feature women or girls from the beginning, starting at #10 and ending at #42 (that's about one woman for every 4 strips):

I almost omitted this one... okay, so she's a peanut. ;)

For comparison however... I was asked to participate in something called the Valentine's Day Sex drive in 2013, and I published this:

So when prompted for something "sexy", instead of going for the blatantly hypersexualized sort of image the activity virtually begged me to create, I went with a high-society zombie joke.

The following year nobody emailed me about participating again. :P
